I’m a writer, editor, and content marketer based in Portland, OR.

I’ve been freelance writing and editing for over five years. I primarily work with companies in the technology, wellness, and travel spaces, both B2B and B2C. Long-form content is my specialty, but I also write website and email copy.
I’m a data-driven storyteller. I turn my client’s goals, brand, and important industry themes into actionable and insightful pieces of content.
Those I’ve worked with would say that I’m:
– Diligent: I do my research. I read reviews, interview SMEs and customers when needed, and conduct independent research so I can confidently write on any industry topic.
–Reliable: Deadlines are as important to me as they are to you. I don’t miss them. I make sure to set clear expectations from the beginning. That way, the final product accurately meets your needs and standards.
–Creative: Good content writing gracefully blends creativity and strategy. I strive to find compelling angles for every topic to craft a unique reading experience.
–Consistent: You can expect my work to consistently be high quality. Everything I write passes my quality control measures, including fact-checking, sentence fluency, and grammar, before I hand it off to you.
I’ve written for many different companies, including BeFunky, Loom, BetterUp, Supernormal, Guru, Sunsama, and more.
Services
Content Writing
Long-form content writing is my jam. Blog posts, case studies, guides, and more all fall within my wheelhouse. Over the years, I’ve crafted a thorough research process that has served me well while writing on topics that are both new and familiar to me. I can provide guidance on best practices for content writing.
Depending on the needs of the content, I’m experienced in conducting SME interviews, researching SEO, and learning the brand voice before I begin writing. I either use an editorial brief created by my client or I create one myself. All these factors will inform my approach to building an outline. I write based on the gathered information.
Areas of expertise: technology, travel, and mental health
Copywriting
Need to spruce up dated landing page copy? Interested in a flawless email newsletter campaign to reengage quiet customers? That’s where I can help. I’ll write snappy, bite-sized copy that has enormous impact despite using few words.
Before I start writing, I’ll request a virtual meeting or ask my client to fill out an async form to document word count, target audience, messaging goals, and any other relevant information. I will use this form to guide my copywriting.
Thought Leadership
Through SME interviews and careful industry research, I craft thought leadership content that helps position your company as a reliable resource in the industry. I understand how to operate behind the scenes to gather crucial insights from your team and craft copy that captures the message you want to convey.
Looking specifically at SME interviews, I usually request a 30-minute conversation to focus on one or two topics. If a live call isn’t possible, or I have more questions after a live call, I will send a list of questions via email.
Travel Writing
I started travel writing in 2019. Most of the articles I write focus on global cities, countries, and destinations that I’ve visited in the past. Each article highlights notable places off the beaten path as well as popular landmarks. Both in-depth travel narratives and detailed itineraries are in my wheelhouse.
My travel content includes information like packing lists, transportation, affordability, recommended trip duration, and any others logistics that would be helpful for a traveler. On the other end, my travel narratives are storytelling-focused and detail my observations and experiences as a traveler. It’s a way to show both how one could spend their time in a new place and pull back the curtain what it feels like to be in a place.
Here’s what some of my clients and colleagues have to say about working with me:
From LinkedIn: “Audrey came onto my team and immediately started having an impact in a tough role — a hybrid between content and product marketing. She took the time to learn how to write in the Guru voice and fluently about the Guru product. She’s extremely smart, a great writer, has terrific insights into larger projects and is dynamite in brainstorms.
From Day One she was willing to jump onto projects, ask for feedback, and find the best way to move them forward. She’d be a credit to any content marketing team, and I loved working with her.”
~ Leah Friedman, Content Marketing Lead, Guru

She has an especially keen eye for content and understands the right way to get attention in a crowded marketplace. She’s efficient, naturally talented, and always looking for ways to help out the team and company at large. Audrey’s collaboration skills are top-notch, and the time we’ve spent writing, editing, and brainstorming is always time well spent. She’s absolutely my first choice for any writing partner.”
~ Jennifer DeShields, Content Marketing Manager, Guru

She has written blogs, infographics, and guides for our agency, and I’ve been impressed with everything she hands in. Her work requires minimal edits and is always on time or ahead of schedule. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great freelance writer! “
